Book Hints and Things to Think About
  • ~ In the chapter ‘Priori Incantatem' at the end of Book 4, when Voldemort's wand begins releasing ghosts of the spells that it last performed in reverse order, we see that Harry's father comes out of the wand before his mother. This would mean that his mother was killed first, then his father. But, if you read the books very carefully, no one really knows exactly what happen when the Potter's were killed. And in book 3 with the Dementors, you never hear that James is killed before Lily, or even that the Avada Kedavra curse is used on them at all. It only states that Harry sees a flash of green light and then can't remember anything. However, Dumbledore tells Harry at the end of the first book that his mother died trying to save him. How does he know this for sure? As you can see there is a lot of mystery surrounding the Potter's deaths.

  • ~ At the end of book four, Dumbledore tells Sirius Black to alert the old crowd - Mundungus Fletcher, Arabella Figg, and Remus Lupin. Now we know who Lupin is, and Mundungus Fletcher is mentioned a couple times in the previous books, but who is Arabella Figg? Could it possibly be the very same Mrs. Figg that lives around the corner from the Dursleys? We do know that there must be some sort of magic that is protecting Harry while he is at his Muggle relative's house, so could Mrs. Figg be a witch who is also there to watch over him? We shall find out soon enough...

  • ~ Another thing about Mrs. Figg. Is it possible that she is an animagus? Possibly that bottle brush tailed cat we know only as Crookshanks? How did Crookshanks know that Sirius, a big black dog, was good, and that Scabbers, a little rat, was bad? Could she be Mrs. Figg, during the summer watching over Harry in the non-wizarding world, and in the school year keeping tabs on Harry at Hogwarts? Something to think about...

  • ~ At the end of the fourth book when Harry is describing to Dumbledore and Sirius what happened with Voldemort that night, Harry tells them that Peter Pettigrew cut Harry's arm with a knife, and gave his blood to Voldemort. Harry explained that this then gave Voldemort the protection that Harry was given when his mother died for him. Harry then sees a triumphant look go across Dumbledore's face, but then thinks that he imagined it. Is there something in Harry's blood that Dumbledore knows about that will hinder Voldemort in some way? Or is Dumbledore actually allied with the dark lord himself...We tend to think its more along the lines of the first explanation.

  • ~ Remember the wizard trading cards that you find in Chocolate Frogs? On the Hogwarts express in the first book, Harry get's Dumbledore's card in his first ever Chocolate Frog. On the back in the description, it states that Dumbledore is most famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945. Well, Grindelwald is a German name, and 1945 is the year that Adolf Hitler was defeated. Relationship? You decide.

  • ~ There is a rumour going around that Harry is Godric Gryffindor's heir. This may seem a bit farfetched, but we have found some pretty strong evidence. First of all, we know that Harry lived with his parents in Godric's Hollow, which is Gryffindor's first name. At Ollivander's wand shop where he first got his wand, when he was trying it out, the wand shot out red and yellow sparks. Coincidentally, these are the colours of the Gryffindor house. In Priori Incantatem, Harry's wand shot out a red stream, and a gold dome enclosed himself and Voldemort. Red and gold again. Harry's birthday is July 31st, which falls under the zodiac sign of Leo. Leo's symbol is the Lion, the Gryffindor mascot. Also in the Chamber of Secrets, when Harry puts on the Sorting Hat, he pulls out Godric Gryffindor's sword. Dumbledore states that only a true gryffindor could have pulled that out of the hat. Last but not least, Harry's wand core is from Fawkes the Phoenix. Fawkes' plumage is red and gold, and Fawkes helps Harry a lot down in the Chamber. He also hears the song of the Phoenix when duelling with Voldemort in book four. So there is tons of evidence to support this, but whether it's all coincidental or not is yet to be revealed. Harry's wand core is from Fawkes the Phoenix.
